Detective J.M. Clark said the crime involved the larceny of a firearm as well as jewelry. Some of the items have been returned.
Clark charged 25-year-old Eric Lee Mayton of Roanoke Rapids with felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obtaining property by false pretense and possession of stolen property.
The obtaining property by false pretense counts stems from Mayton allegedly selling the stolen items.
Investigation by Clark, with assistance from Sergeant S. Rodwell, led to Mayton's arrest today in the breaking and entering.
Mayton was also served a felony warrant for breaking and entering of a motor vehicle as a result of a separate investigation by Deputy E. Johnson.
Mayton was jailed on $15,000 bond and has a September 25 court date.
