Halifax County Manager Tony Brown announced at the beginning of today's board of commissioners meeting that Assistant County Manager Linda Taylor will be retiring at the end of the month.

“This will be a great loss to the county,” Brown said. “I'm not looking forward to her departing. She is willing to assist us on our budget next year.”

Taylor, the assistant county manager of financial services, has helped lead the county to numerous certificates for excellence in financial reporting.

In another matter today the board approved a $217,792 capital outlay appropriation for Halifax Community College.

The appropriation was for roofing projects of the 100 building and the library, college Vice President of Administration and Finance Debra Smith said.
