Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a Wednesday morning break-in that occurred at Sherwin-Williams in which a safe and cash registers were removed of a undisclosed amount of money.

The break-in was reported to Detective Jeff Davis shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday at the paint and painting supply store in the Forest Hills Shopping Center off East Tenth Street.

Entry was gained by breaking the glass to the main entrance door and the overnight security lights were damaged.

It is believed a crow bar or sledgehammer was possibly used to gain entry as well as compromise the safe and cash registers.

In addition to the stolen cash, painter shorts and pants with the Sherwin-Williams logo were taken.

It is believed the break-in occurred sometime between midnight and 5:30 that morning.

Captain Andy Jackson said police believe there may be a link between the Sherwin-Williams break-in and one last week at China Lin off Premier Boulevard.
