Roanoke River Partners and Halifax County Tourism will host the sixth annual Roanoke River Ramble Saturday, November 2.

The ramble is a nine-mile trip down the Roanoke River that begins at River Falls Park in Weldon and ends at the Halifax Fishing Club.

A light breakfast will be provided at the launch sight.

(A registration form with more information is included as a PDF attachment at the end of this story)

Chris Wicker, who is working with the two sponsors of the event, said there is the chance to see fall colors along the river bank or the chance to see wildlife during the paddle to Halifax. “We’ll end at the Halifax Fishing Club once again and the Fishing Club will have some hot, homemade Brunswick stew and cornbread ready for us at their newly renovated barn on the banks of the mighty Roanoke.”

The bluegrass group Nine Pound Hammers will play at the destination point.

Registration is $30 and includes a commemorative T-shirt, lunch, coffee and snacks before the paddle launches.

Proceeds from the event will help support Roanoke River Partners.

Registration forms can be obtained at the Halifax County Tourism office at 260 Premier Boulevard Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 or at www.visithalifax.com or www.roanokeriverpartners.org .
