Captain Andy Jackson said Tonya Anstead was arrested through a Crimestoppers tip.
She has been charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense; two counts of uttering a forged instrument; one count possession of a counterfeit instrument and conspiracy and forgery of a counterfeit instrument.
That the charges include conspiracy means there could possibly be a ring of people in the area making checks and using them to obtain goods and services.
One of the checks used was made to look like a personal check while the other was made to look like a payroll check, Jackson said.
Anstead received a $2,500 bond and has a December 11 court date.
