A Chadbourn man was charged with allegedly passing marijuana to a Caledonia Correctional Center inmate Saturday.

Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said the inmate is expected to be charged as well.

On Saturday, around 2:30 p.m., Lieutenant Tim Harris responded to Caledonia to investigate a drug complaint.

Harris learned that prison officials discovered 240 grams of marijuana was reportedly passed to the inmate. They discovered the hidden marijuana following a routine post-visit search.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Marcus Woodberry, 43, a visitor.

Woodberry faces charges of possession of a controlled substance on prison premises, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and felony possession of marijuana.

Woodberry was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond and was given a March 3 court date.
