A break-in last week led to one man being apprehended by the victim and the second by law enforcement.

According to a statement from Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, deputies Dusty Newsome and Brian Biggerstaff responded to Pinewood Road March 5 shortly after 6 p.m. after the homeowner allegedly found Timothy Preston Bowles, 29, and Benjamin Adam Loving, 28, in his home uninvited.

Bowles

Deputies discovered the victim chased both men out of the house and captured Bowles, who is from Hopewell, Virginia. Bowles allegedly had the victim's hand tools, which were taken from the residence.

Loving

Bowles was arrested immediately, while further canvassing led to the discovery of Loving, who is from Roanoke Rapids.

Hall said the men allegedly gained entry through the rear door by prying it open with a chisel.

Both men face charges of breaking and entering, larceny, conspiracy and injury to real property. Bowles was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Loving received a $6,000 secured bond while Bowles received a $10,000 secured bond. They have April 2 court dates.

The relationship of the men beyond being acquaintances was not immediately clear.
