An 18-year-old Maryland man is awaiting extradition to Halifax County after allegedly disseminating sexually explicit photos to a girl under 13-years-old.

Detective J.M. Clark said in a news release the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in early February involving inappropriate communications with a minor through social networking. Through the investigation, with the assistance of Deputy Jessica Sampson, Clark tracked the purported suspect, Kodiak Skylar Caldwell, to Pittsville, Maryland.

This morning, the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Task Force arrested Caldwell on Halifax County’s charges without incident.

Clark charged him with four counts of disseminating obscenities to a minor under 13 and indecent liberties with a minor.

Clark declined to say whether the photos were of the suspect and also declined to say whether the indecent liberties count occurred online or in Halifax County.

The investigation continues, Clark said, and he is attempting to identify more potential victims that may cross state lines.
