Court records show Tyron Mills, a federally convicted drug dealer currently on the lam, had his bond reduced from $50,000 cash to $30,000 secured after his arrest on local charges in February.

A jail certificate contained in his arrest information in the Halifax County Clerk of Courts Office shows he was admitted to the county jail on February 12 at 3:40 p.m. on a $50,000 cash bond.

At 10:48 on February 15 he was released, a note on the form saying Judge Teresa Freeman authorized his bond reduction to $30,000 secured.

The documents do not go into detail on why his bond was reduced and his attorney of record could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.

The court records show his bond was posted by a bail bondsman.

His release came after he was arrested on February 12 by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office on marijuana-related counts in the Lincoln Heights community.

The search warrant application filed by sheriff's office Narcotics Agent D.C. Dickens said a confidential and reliable source stated they have been to a residence on Godley Street where Mills was selling cocaine. “During the past month this affiant has had confidential and reliable sources go to the residence and purchase cocaine. During the controlled purchases the confidential and reliable source has purchased cocaine from Tyron Marquette Mills on every occasion.”

The U.S. Government in February filed a warrant for his arrest since the local charges violated terms of his release from federal custody.

Lieutenant Anzell Harris of the sheriff's office said Mills has still not been apprehended as of this morning.

Sheriff Wes Tripp had no comment on the bond reduction this afternoon.
