Zoo Rd. man charged with selling cocaine, pot

A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested today for allegedly selling powdered cocaine and marijuana from his residence on Zoo Road South.

Lieutenant Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said narcotics agents have been looking at Nate Walker for about two months, based on complaints and a Crimestoppers tip about activity at his residence.

Today around 3 p.m., deputies executed a search warrant that Harris applied for.

During the search of the residence approximately 6 grams of powdered cocaine valued around $300 as well as marijuana was seized. Officers additionally seized several items of paraphernalia including a grinder, razor, baggies and a digital scale.

Harris credited Corporal M. Brown and his dog Mallie as an instrumental part of the search warrant execution.

Walker, who was already on probation for a June 5 conviction of carrying a concealed weapon, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possess drug paraphernalia, possess marijuana up to one-half ounce and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.

He was released on $5,000 secured bond as his bail bondsman was at the magistrate’s office.

Walker has also been convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia in 2002 in Halifax County.

Harris said in a statement citizens are encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 to provide information on illicit activity.
