False rape allegations have led to a false police report charge against a Roanoke Rapids woman.

Detective W. Murphy Jr. of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office charged Wendy June Howell, 35, today.

She allegedly filed the report earlier this month with the sheriff's office. “We did a full, extensive investigation,” Murphy said.

Murphy said following the investigation the allegations didn't add up.

While there is a motive, he declined to elaborate since it is a domestic case.

Howell was given a $500 bond and has a February 25 court date.
