Tyquane Johnson, 20, was arrested around 9 p.m., about an hour following the shooting, according to Detective Obert Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
He faces charges of burglary; attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
He was jailed on $200,000 bond and has a March 11 court date.
Wiltsie said investigators have also developed a person of interest in the case who has not been located.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday the sheriff's office responded to a burglary and shooting call where two men came into the residence and attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint.
The victim was shot in the arm and grazed in the chest.
The men fled the residence. The victim is in stable condition and recovering.
