Reward offered in Hobgood B&E

A $500 cash reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the breaking and entering of a school in the Hobgood area.

Detective B.C. Griffin of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office declined to disclose the name of the school, which was broken into sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.

He also declined to say from what area of the building cash was taken or how entry was gained.

The cash was the only thing known to be taken.

Drug arrest

Agent D.R. Radford of the City County Drug Task Force reported that Wednesday around 2 p.m. agents working in conjunction with the Edgecombe Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Edwards Fork Road in the Scotland Neck area.

During the search of the residence, agents seized marijuana.

Radford cited John Denzell Pender, 30, with a citation for possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.

Pender was given an April 22,court date.

On December 19, Pender was convicted in Halifax County District Court of DWI and is currently on active probation.
