We realize there is probably bitterness today, a lingering bad taste from months of debate on the Chaloner pool debacle.

New Chaloner pool estimates top $500,000 mark

New estimates for the construction of a Chaloner Recreation Center pool have come in higher than one presented to Roanoke Rapids City Council in May.

The Chaloner Recreation Center pool repair project has received a $10,000 boost from a local ministry.

Obviously, there was a pragmatic, cold, number-crunching side which led to the unanimous approval of Chaloner pool repairs Tuesday night.

New motion rejected as pool debate continues

Councilman Carl Ferebee made it clear this evening he is not giving up on repairs for the Chaloner pool.

Nearly eight months of intense debate ended this evening as three members of Roanoke Rapids City Council shot down a motion to fund repairs of the Chaloner Recreation Center pool.
