Municipal election filing period starts July 7


The Filing Period for the November 7 municipal election will begin on Friday, July 7, at noon and end Friday, July 21, at noon in the Halifax County Board of Elections Office at the Old Historic Courthouse in Halifax for the following municipalities:

Halifax County early voting schedule released

The Halifax County Board of Elections has released the schedule for early voting which occurs before the November 8 general election.

Halifax County voters will be voting on the state Supreme Court Associate Justice primary on June 7.

BOE seeks precinct workers; SCLC sets forums

The Halifax County Board of Elections is seeking to hire additional precinct officials who are willing to work during early voting and Election Day while the Roanoke Valley Southern Christian Leadership Conference is hosting a series of voter information forums.

Hawkins, Balmer file for respective BOE seats

Incumbent Halifax County School Board member Carolyn Hawkins and incumbent Weldon City Schools Board member Barbara Balmer are the latest to file for the March 15 primary.

An audit of write-in ballots shows Chuck Peoples will be the fifth commissioner on the Halifax town board and Milton Armston will be the third commissioner on the Hobgood town board.

Incumbent Roanoke Rapids City Councilwoman Carol Cowen won her seat on the panel this evening.
