No consolidated precincts for November 3 elections

There will be no consolidated precincts in Halifax County for the November 3 municipal elections.

Roanoke Rapids voters, however, who traditionally voted at the Roanoke Rapids Public Library will be voting at the Neighborhood Resources Center on Jackson Street, county Board of Elections Director Kristin Scott said Tuesday.

Jenkins asks for recount

Edith Jenkins, who lost her bid for re-election in the Weldon City Schools Board of Education race by four votes, has requested a recount.

The canvass of the results in the Halifax County Board of Commissioners race were nearly suspended today after Commissioner Rives Manning, one of the winners in November 4 general election, protested discrepancies in the write-in results of two candidates whose names were not on the ballots.

Canvass makes general election results official

Results of the November 4 general election became official today with the canvass of the ballots in Halifax.

The three members of the Halifax County Board of Elections will have pay back a total of $4,725 after commissioners deadlocked on forgiving what administration called an over-compensation in their stipends.
