The City of Roanoke Rapids is accepting applications for the following positions:

Part-Time Building Supervisor (Parks & Recreation Department)

This may include any of our recreation facilities:  TJ Davis Recreation Center, Aquatic Center, Jo Story Senior Center, Chaloner Recreation Center, Public Library, Canal Museum, Kirkwood Adams Community Center, or Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall. An employee in this position supervises scheduled activities and is the City’s point of contact during these activities. Hours are mainly evenings and weekends according to activities that are scheduled. (Open until filled)

Purchasing Agent (Finance Department)

A candidate in this position organizes and administers a procurement program for the City departments.  Work involves performing duties involving formal and informal bid purchasing, maintaining the fixed assets and inventory system, review and approval of purchase orders and maintenance of records.  Work is performed in accordance with the North Carolina General Statues and the State regulations governing purchasing, local government and company policies and manuals. Serves as backup to other positions in finance and performs a variety of support tasks, when required.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Finance Director.

Desired Qualifications:  This position requires graduation from a two year college with degree in business administration or related field and considerable experience in the purchasing field or similar office capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Sanitation Equipment Operator (Public Works Department)

An employee in this class operates a Hydraulic Knuckleboom Loader or related sanitation equipment on an assigned route to collect and dispose of refuse from residential and business areas.

A valid NC CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is required for this position.

Sanitation Worker (Public Works Department)

An employee in this class works as a member of a crew led by a Sanitation Equipment Operator in loading and unloading refuse over an established route.

A valid NC Driver’s License is required for this position. (Open until filled)

Recreation Program Supervisor (Aquatic Center - Parks & Recreation)

A candidate in this class plans, coordinates and supervises the Aquatic Center programs and activities.  As successful candidate will have demonstrated management experience in the aquatics field, strong supervisory skills and ability to motivate a team, and a strong sense of safety with the ability to implement good practices   

Desired Qualifications:  - High school diploma or equivalent. – Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in recreation administration, physical education or related degree and considerable experience in the recreational programming preferred- Certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED preferred, First Aid & Lifeguarding preferred -3yrs. of lifeguarding experience preferred -Management experience – Must have excellent people service skills - Ability to provide service with integrity -Good verbal and written communication skills.  Must hold a valid Class C North Carolina Driver’s License. Police Officer (Roanoke Rapids Police Department)

An employee in this class performs a full range of general law enforcement duties to protect life and property in the City.   Basic Law Enforcement Training is preferred but not required. (Open Until Filled)
