A conference report on Senate Bill 214 was withdrawn this afternoon.

Senator Benton Sawrey, a District 10 Republican from Johnston County and chair of the conference committee for the bill, made the request without elaboration.

The audio of the session captured applause after the report was withdrawn without objection. Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt called for order during the applause.

At the beginning of the session, Hunt recognized a motion by District 2 Republican Senator Norman Sanderson, which acknowledged the group Voices of Warren County as well as citizens representing Halifax and Warren counties.

Sanderson had voted against the bill, which seeks to grant Franklin County the authority to condemn land in neighboring counties without their consent. Under Part V, Section 5 of Senate Bill 214, those affected areas include Halifax, Vance, and Warren counties.
