The Jo Story Senior Center has box fans available to Halifax County residents age 60 and older, or those on disability with a health condition or living situation that puts them at risk for heat-related illnesses.

The fans are available through the Operation Fan Heat Relief grant from Dominion Resources, Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke Energy Progress, and the Upper Coastal Plain Area Agency on Aging.   Recipients must furnish proof of age, current address, disability documentation (if applicable), and a recent electric bill in the fan recipient’s name.

Fans are available for pick up Tuesday-Friday 8am-11am at the senior center.

Call (252)533-2847 to reserve a time to pick up a fan or for more details on Operation Fan Heat Relief.

Fans are limited to one per household.
