A Halifax man who allegedly threatened to slam a woman to the ground and watch the life come out of her remains in the Halifax County Detention Center after being charged Tuesday with domestic violence offenses.
The arrest of 52-year-old James D. Williams came after a woman reported to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office that she had been assaulted, Major Anzell Harris said.
According to the warrant, Williams told the victim, “I’m gonna slam you,” and “I'm going to watch the life come out of you.”

Harris said investigators determined that the woman had been struck multiple times, threatened, and strangled by her husband on multiple occasions throughout the day. She had bruises on her neck, arms, shoulder, and forehead.
The warrant states that Williams strangled the victim by placing his hand on her neck and struck her in the nose with the back of his hand. It also alleges she was grabbed by the hair and throat.
Detective Sergeant I. Miller obtained warrants charging Williams with felony assault by strangulation, communicating threats, assault on a female, and a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
Williams was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. with the assistance of Detective Sergeant C. Watkins.
He was denied bail and has a District Court date scheduled for October 20.
