Members of a Scotland Neck Blood set have been charged in a 15-count indictment alleging heroin sales of 100 grams or more, the North Carolina Eastern District United States Attorney’s Office said today.

Carolina Avenue drug probe continues

A continued probe into cocaine sales at a residence in the 900 block of Carolina Avenue led to more arrests today but investigation continues.

The newest member of the City County Drug Task Force, a dog named Tony, helped agents seize 77.3 grams of cocaine — a trafficking amount.

The Peanut Belt Rural Planning Organization Technical Advisory Council has recommended a proposed Amtrak station in Weldon be put on the state’s Transportation Improvement Plan.

Police seek info on missing man

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking assistance in locating a missing person.

Two Roanoke Rapids women have August 16 court dates on counterfeit bill counts.

A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested this evening after the captain of the City County Drug Task Force reportedly observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction while following up on a drug complaint at Carolina Avenue and East Tenth Street.

HCC returns to its roots with Patriot mascot

Halifax Community College is returning to its roots as the Patriots and in the spring will be seeking input of the faculty, staff, students and the community to give its mascot a more modern look.

Westmoreland Coal Company has entered into an agreement to sell the Roanoke Valley Power Facility in Weldon, it said in a news release on its website.
