Woman faces prostitution count

A 21-year-old woman was charged Monday with solicit prostitution after agents of the City County Drug Task Force received complaints of activity over the weekend.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person involved in a larceny at Family Dollar on Highway 158.

The suspects charged with placing a skimmer and pinhole camera in a Weldon ATM, also reportedly placed devices in machines in Enfield, Fayetteville and Laurinburg, a search warrant in the case shows.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation last week filed charges of communicating threats and assault and battery against a former Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputy, records filed in clerk’s office show.

Heavy winds to linger through evening

The National Weather Service says a high wind warning and wind advisory remain in effect through 10 p.m.
