Notice for the November 2, 2021 Municipal Election 

Notice is hereby given pursuant to G.S. 163-33(8) that the Halifax County Registration Books will be closed on Friday, October 8, 2021 for voters participating in the November 2, 2021 Municipal Election. 

Local offices will be presented to voters for the following municipalities: Town of Halifax, Town of Hobgood, Town of Littleton, Roanoke Rapids Graded School System, Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District, Town of Scotland Neck, and the Town of Weldon. 

The polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. 

The basic requirements for voter registration are U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age, and 30 days of residency. 

One-Stop Absentee Voting will begin on Thursday, October 14, 2021 and end Saturday, October 30, 2021. A person wishing to vote absentee does not need an excuse and/or reason to do so. One-Stop Voting will be held at the Halifax County Agriculture Building in the Auditorium located at 359 Ferrell Lane, Halifax. Voting hours will be Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

A person wishing to register and vote the same day may do so only during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period. Those voters would need to bring proper identification showing proof of residency by one of the following: NC Drivers License, Government Document, Utility Bill, Paycheck, and/or Bank Statement. If you do not have the following documents with you at the time of voting, you may vote a provisional ballot and show identification before the Board of Elections meet to canvass the election on Friday, November 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. 

Any voter, near relative, or verifiable legal guardian of the voter may request an Absentee by Mail ballot for the November 2, 2021 Municipal Election. Absentee by Mail ballot requests must be received by the Board of Elections Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before Election Day.
