Roanoke Rapids pick up wins in both games in the cold

Friends off the field opponents on the field. Roanoke Rapids Softball hosted Halifax Academy on the diamond today in the very cold tempatures.

 ALLEN

In Game one Roanoke Rapids earned the win in four innings due to the 10 run rule 11-1. Brianna Allen had a single and a triple, Sara Abernathy had two doubles, Caitlin Ewers had a double, Brooke McClenny had a triple. Sierra Hearp had a single, double and a over the fence home run while Jordan Carpenter also had a single but a 2 run over the fence home run to end the game. Senior Caitlin Ewers who once played for Halifax Academy before her move to the City school earned the win in game one on the mound.

CONNER

Hannah Clary pitched for Halifax and Drew Rose and Tori Ladendorf single each were the only hits for Halifax in game one.

SARA

In game two everyone was freezing. Fans were wrapped up as were extra players in the dugouts. Roanoke Rapids won the second game also by the 10 run rule, but this time it took 5 innings, winning 11-0. Brooke McClenny had a single, Sierra Hearp had two singles and a double, Brianna Allen had two singles, Sara Abernathy had another double as did Caitlin Ewers and Brooke Vincent had a single.

SIERRA 

 

Winning Pitcher Sierra Hearp on the mound only allowed one hit from Halifax which was Haley Wood single.

 

Roanoke Rapids Varsity softball meves to 9-1 while Halifax Academy Varsity softball falls to 4-5-1.
