Roanoke Valley Bike Club members teamed up to raise money

Roanoke Rapids City irefighters Deputy Chief Mike Clements, Engineer Wes Hux and Lt. Gordon Pearson who are members of the local Roanoke Valley Bike club along with other club members Chris Wicker, Tommy Jones and Trase Jones rode thier bikes to raise money in the "Tour De Cure" ride for Diabetes Research this past weekend.

It is an annual ride put on by the American Diabetes Association. They each rode 82 miles from Cary to Pinehurst on  Saturday and then 104 miles back to Cary in the of and on rain on Sunday. Between Sanford and Apex the bottom fell out raining, but Clemtens stated "We were too close to home to quit then".

They each would like to thank who donated to them for the cause.
