Team USA plays in World Cup/Border Battle games in Oklahoma then Tenn.

Gaston Native Lee Powers is member of the USA Softball Mens Slow Pitch National team and travels playing slow pitch softball all summer.

This week is a busy week for the now Roanoke Rapids resident. Powers is in Oklahoma City playing in the the World Cup and Border Battle games.

Last night Team USA played an exhibition game against Team Canada with Team USA winning 25-10 and Powers going 4-4 with three singles and a double.

Team USA plays Team Futures tonight in the World Cup of Softball VIII and back on the field Thursday for the 2013 Border Battle V against Team Canada. This game (Border Battle) will be recorded and aired on ESPN Saturday July 12th at Noon.

Then Friday, the team will head to Knoxville Tenn. for the 45th Annual Smokey Mountian Classic softball tournament 12th -14th.
