The following members of the 2014 2A Northern Carolina Conference Champions have been named to the 2014 Northern Carolina 2A All Conference Team

Coach of the Year Eric McDaniels
Coach McDaniels in his first season at Roanoke Rapids took a RRHS team predicted to finish last in the conference and lead them to a Conference Championship with a 4-1 conference record, also lead them to the third round of the 2AA NCHSAA state play-offs and finished the season with a 10-4 overall record. All with being hired by the Roanoke Rapids High school only two weeks before the August 1 official first day of high school football practice. When asked about the award, coach Mcdaniels had the following comments. "The fact is, that myself had great help, I don't use the word I because this was a team effort from day one. What I did was semi organize, the assistance coaches deserve part of the recognition more than that, we didn't have any rushing yard nor any tackles, we did a pretty good job as a staff and organizing and I think the young men responded. It is a humbling award. It was a humbling experience Sunday to be presented in the Roanoke Rapids Christmas parade and hear the amount of cheers and people getting out of their chairs clapping and letting these young men know what an outstanding job they have done, We are thankful, I have said it before that experience on a Friday night on Hoyle field is tremendous.

Offensive Back of the Year DeJuan Walker
DeJaun Walker in 14 Games, 52 for 108 attempts, 897 yards, 10 Touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Season rushing in 14 games, 105 carries for 1019 yards, 13 touchdowns. "Well deserving, with the numbers Walker has, in my mind he is player of the year. A great reconition for him because it is voted on by the coaches in the league and it says a lot when your competitor coaches see the talent he has and is a great honor for him and well deserved by DeJaun," said coach McDaniels.
DeJaun Walker was also named MaxPreps.com overall Player of the year for the Roanoke Rapids team.

Caleb Pratt a Senior Kicker who in 14 games had 73 kickoffs with 61 of those touchbacks, 35 punts for 1,345 yards, 52 point after attempts with making 48 and 13 field goal attemps making 7 with a 47 yard being his longest. "Surly is a division 1 kicker, he has earned that opportunity to kick at that level. Maybe the best kicker I have ever coached," said coach McDaniels

Brothers Dylan and Marcus Allen
Dylan Allen a Junior Linebacker, on Defense Allen had 84 solo tackles and 61 assited tackles with a total of 145 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovered and caused 1 fumble. on Offense Allen had 68 carries for a total of 275 yards for 6 touchdowns with 3 fumbles. Dylan Allen was also named MaxPreps.com Defensive player of the year for the Roanoke Rapids team.
Marcus Allen a Sophomore Linebacker, on defense had 83 solo tackles and 61 assited tackles with a total of 144 tackles.Allen had on offense Allen had 6 reception for 71 yards with 2 touchdowns. "Heck of a combination to have in a household, defiantly our two defensive leaders. They were our number one-two leaders on tackles. We are very excited to have them on that side of the ball and look forward to them come back next year and both will be offensive contributors as well," said coach McDaniels.

DJ Jones a Sophomore Running Back with 246 carries for a total of 1,629 yards for 14 touchdowns with 3 fumbles, and 2 conversions. "We sometimes don't see eye to eye, but he is one heck of a running back. Two, 200 plus yard games speaks a lot for itself. He has that rare, where he can make people miss inside the tackle. A big plus for us offensively and again looking forward to his return next season, said Coach McDaniels.
DJ Jones was also named MaxPreps.com Offensive player of the year for the Roanoke Rapids team.

Clay Smith a Senior Tight End, on defense Smith had 28 solo tackles and 26 assisted tackles for a total of 54 tackles in 13 games also on offense Smith had 6 receptions for a total of 128 yard with 3 touchdowns, 1 kickoff return for 6 yards. "Was much more asset to us the first have of the season offensively but much more defensively throughout the season and says a lot about him. An amazing contributor on both side of the ball and a very good player who has the potential to perform on at the next level of play," said coach McDaniels.

Will Wheeler a Senior Defensive Line had 14 solo tackles and 26 assisted tackles with a total of 40 tackles, caused 1 fumble. " When I first got here I wasn't sure if he would be able to contribute much due his weight, but he has and he is a gap and half player that has caught the eye of a few collegiate people. Wheeler was a positive force and an asset for us defensibly, said coach McDaniels.

Chris Sledge a Senior Offensive Line. Sledge on the offensive line doesn't have stats for everyone to see his work by numbers, but when asked about Sledge, coach McDaniels had this to say, "Sledge was our offensive anchor as a senior, he was the one who had the most experience. Chris deserves to be on this all conference team, he has been more consistent up front and been a leader for us up there.

Marcus Jones a Senior Defensive Back on Defense Jones had 37 solo tackles and 26 assisted tackles for a total of 63 tackles, 2 interceptions. On offense Jones 3 kickoff returns for total of 48 yards, 5 receptions for 151 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 fumble. "Specially the second half of the season, he help us solidify our defensive secondary, he played some at corner, some at safety, He made some big plays for us defensively and also contributed some as a true receiver," said coach McDaniels
