Sunday was locker clean-out day for the Arizona Cardinals
Roanoke Rapids native and Roanoke Rapids High along with University of Carolina alumnus Kareem Martin finished his rookie season in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinal Sunday.
The Cardinals finished their season 11-7 falling this past Saturday 27-16 in the wildcard game against the Carolina Panthers. Though Martin was inactive before game time, he was there as a member of the NFL Arizona Cardinals while playing a game in his home state of North Carolina.
Martin played in all four 2014 preseason games starting two of those racking up 6 solo and 3 assisted tackles. During the 17 regular season games Martin started two of those and played a total of 11 of the 17. In those 11 games Martin racked up 8 solo tackles and one sack. Along with the wildcard playoff game Martin was inactive 6 regular season games.
The NFL rule is that 8 of the 53 man roster players be placed on an inactive list at least 15 minutes before game time. The team is required to pay for the players travels, room and meals. Most time the inactive are injured players, but not injured enough to stop them from playing if needed. Martin appeared not to be injured but team scouts and coaches make the decision who is named inactive.
Martin along with his 52 other teammates took Sunday for their last team meeting and time to clean out their lockers for the 2014 season. The team members with return in July 2015 for the the start of the 2015 season summer camp.
