ASHLAND, Va. - Sophomore Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy) had 26 points and 16 rebounds, and sophomore Charlotte Woods (Richmond, Va./Trinity) added 18 points and 15 boards, as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team posted a 73-43 victory over Roanoke in ODAC action Saturday afternoon in Crenshaw Gym.

The first-place Yellow Jackets (15-3, 8-2 ODAC) outscored the Maroons (7-12, 4-6 ODAC) 19-4 in the final period to secure the win.

Woods had a pair of buckets as R-MC jumped out to an 8-2 lead two and a half minutes into the contest. RC scored seven straight to take its first lead at 9-8 with just under six minutes remaining in the first period. Williams and freshman Becca Arrington (Amelia, Va./Amelia Academy) both had six points as R-MC ended the quarter on a 12-6 run to take a 20-15 lead after one. Williams had eight total points in the period.

The Maroons started the second quarter on a 6-2 spurt to pull within one at 22-21 with 7:40 left in the period. The Yellow Jackets scored eight straight points, with Woods tallying six, as the advantage grew to nine at 30-21 with 2:40 remaining. Senior Teal Reynolds (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) scored the final three points for R-MC as the home team took a 33-23 lead at intermission. Williams picked up two fouls late in the first period with the Yellow Jackets leading by two. She did not play the rest of the first half and R-MC was able to expand the lead to 10. Woods had 10 points and nine rebounds in the first half for the Yellow Jackets.

Williams hit a free throw and junior Jayla Wade (Newport News, Va./Heritage) nailed a three-pointer in the first minute of the third quarter as R-MC took a 14-point lead at 37-23. The Maroons scored seven straight to cut the deficit in half at 37-30 with six minutes remaining. The Yellow Jackets closed the quarter on a 17-9 spurt to lead 54-39 after three periods. Williams had 12 points in the quarter for R-MC.

The Yellow Jackets had a 15-2 run to start the final period, leading 69-41 with 3:15 remaining in the fourth. R-MC would eventually record the 73-43 victory.

Ten of Woods' 15 rebounds were on the offensive end. Reynolds paced the victors with four assists. Freshman Elise Knobloch (Glenville, Pa./Delone Catholic) had four of the eight steals for the Yellow Jackets.
