Valley Community Church will again hold Giving Hope on Saturday, December 14.
For the sixth year, along with a host of volunteers, Thomas and Jodie Barrett will stage the Community Prayer Tree beside their home at 787 Rivers Edge Parkway in Roanoke Rapids. Two Community nights are planned for December 9 and 23 to be held at 7 p.m.
A man who had been wanted by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office for several months was located and taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in the area of Arcola and White Rock Church roads.
The city Tuesday was presented an unmodified, also known as clean, audit report.
Former Roanoke Rapids police Chief Shane Guyant received his badge and service weapon during Tuesday’s city council meeting and also received one of the state’s highest honors — the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
