An Enfield man was arrested Friday on a charge of second-degree forcible rape, according to Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

The warrant says that 68-year-old George Coleman allegedly engaged in a sex offense with a victim who was physically helpless at the time.

Harris said the original complaint was received through the Enfield Police Department and later transferred to the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division, where an investigation was conducted and warrants were obtained. The offense occurred earlier this month.

Coleman was arrested at his residence. He was denied bail and has an October 6 district court date.
