The Southeast High Speed Rail (SEHSR) project, proposed to run through Warren County on its route from Richmond, Va. to Raleigh, could have a significant impact here, not only in terms of property, but also in re-routing a number of area roads.

Roanoke Rapids police continue to investigate a home invasion in the no hundred block of Jackson Street.

Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said around 2 this morning officers responded to a call where people described as three black males broke into the house armed with knives and demanded sneakers and cash. They left with an undisclosed amount of money and property. No one was injured.

Enfield Middle and Southeast Halifax High School will use more than $4 million in federal grant money to hire more teachers, a spokesperson for the Halifax County School System said today.
