A Garysburg man was served with warrants for second-degree forcible rape in Halifax County and a warrant for allegedly causing more than $1,000 in damage at the Northampton County Detention Center in Jackson.

Court records show that 39-year-old Richard Rondell Boone was indicted on a true bill in March for breaking a jail cell window and window frame in Northampton County.

The second-degree rape investigation dates to last November, when deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to ECU North Hospital following a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted, according to Major Anzell Harris.

Harris said Detective I. Miller established probable cause and obtained warrants against Boone.

On Wednesday, Miller served the warrants with assistance from Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Detective B. Deloatch and Sergeant Z. McDuffie.

Boone was denied bail and awaits an October 14 district court date in Halifax County.
