Three people were arrested Friday after a dispute with others, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
Roanoke Rapids police continue to investigate a crash in which a car smashed through the Sunbeam Discount Bakery Store on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway Friday.
Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said the 87-year-old driver may have become confused when the 1994 Honda went inside the store. Two employees were working at the time. No one was injured.
The crash destroyed the front of the building.
Lee Carter is already an hour and a half behind on his canned vegetable and fruit run. So the trucker coming from Charleston, South Carolina, on his way to Greencastle, Pennsylvania, takes this attitude about the 45 minutes it will take Trooper Russell Taylor to inspect his rig at the Halifax County weigh station: “They have a job to do to keep us safe, make sure our trucks are in good shape so we can run it down the road. We get this from time to time.”
The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department will most likely send its ladder truck to Pennsylvania in August to have the swivel repaired.
There are 620 fire hydrants in Roanoke Rapids and the fire department is testing and flushing everyone.
