A nearly four-year-old murder mystery has been solved and a Roanoke Rapids man is in custody under no bond for the Feb. 2, 2006, shooting of Roanoke Avenue businessman Shelby Salmon.
Wednesday the schooling begins as members of the city’s Main Street program team travel to Salisbury to learn what is expected of them as they work to improve Roanoke Avenue.
A man already charged in a September breaking and entering has now been charged in one in April, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Rich Somogyi said in a news release the September break-in occurred in Roanoke Rapids and Thomas Martin, 19, was charged.
Further investigation allegedly connected Martin to another residential break-in which occurred in the dame area.
Martin, of Roanoke Rapids, was located by Deputy Joe Sealey and charged. He was jailed on $25,000 bond and has a Dec. 16 court date.
An 18-year-old Scotland Neck man has been arrested for a May 21 break-in where firearms were stolen from a house on Shields Commissary Road.
