As North Carolina’s fall wildfire season approaches, the North Carolina Forest Service is encouraging the public to protect homes and neighborhoods by taking action to reduce wildfire risk and using recommended best practices to prevent wildfires.
The National Weather Service said that moisture from Tropical Storm Imelda will spread mainly light to moderate rain north into the Carolinas through tonight, with some patchy light rain possibly continuing through the first half of Tuesday as Imelda begins to turn east and out to sea.
A gunshot victim is in fair condition today and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department continues to investigate the Sunday evening shooting.
