Roanoke Rapids City Manager Kelly Traynham late this evening was preparing a state of emergency declaration that includes a curfew which began at 9 and will go through Saturday morning after a strong storm came through and toppled trees and power lines throughout the city.
The Weldon City Schools Board of Education appointed Tammy Boone as the new superintendent for the district.
Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Superintendent Julie Thompson praised an announcement by ECU Health Wednesday that its Health Sciences Academy will expand to four additional locations including the city’s system for the upcoming school year.
