An Enfield man was arrested and charged Wednesday for possession of marijuana and cocaine, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy J. Velez stopped the vehicle because Sherard Tremayne Peterson, 36, was driving in the area of Randolph Street in Enfield on a suspended license.

During the stop Velez detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle which led to a search. 

During the search marijuana residue was located and Peterson was found in possession of a digital scale, 52 grams of marijuana, and 2 grams of cocaine.

He was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, no operator’s license and possessing marijuana paraphernalia. 

He received a $10,000 bond and February 27 district court date.
