A Garner area man died Thursday afternoon after the pickup he was driving sideswiped a box truck in the Enfield area of Interstate 95.

First Sergeant M.D. Williams of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said it is believed the victim of the crash, Fuhard M. Kaloko, 43, was commuting between Garner and Virginia.

According to a preliminary investigation by Trooper S.J. Taylor, Kaloko sideswiped the box truck while operating his 2003 Silverado pulling a utility trailer near the 152.5 mile marker.

After the sideswipe,  Kaloko ran off the road to the left and struck several trees.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
