A spate of three crashes that ended on Sunday and began on Thursday claimed three lives and left three others injured, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Contributing factors in all of the crashes are still under investigation, First Sergeant Levern Bynum said.
Sunday at 2:13 a.m.
Jisaiah Johnson, 23 of Hollister, was operating an Infiniti on Porter Road near the Warren County line when he ran off the roadway to the right, collided with a ditch and then struck a tree which caused the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest on its top.
Johnson was transported for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
Trooper C.R. Hogg investigated.
Saturday at 7:26 p.m.
An unidentified driver was operating a Yukon on Interstate 95 near the 154 mile marker in the Enfield area.
While traveling south, the driver traveled off the roadway to the left and overcorrected.
The vehicle began to roll over and ejected several people. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway to the right, collided with a street sign and then came to an uncontrolled rest off the roadway.
The crash claimed one life and sent three people to the hospital. They are in critical but stable condition.
Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

March 27, 11 a.m.
Sammy Davis Deloatch, 61, of Roanoke Rapids, was operating a pickup west on Highway 186 near Seaboard.
He crossed the centerline and went off the roadway to the left. The vehicle traveled back across the roadway, struck a street sign and then a tree. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its top.
Deloatch was flown to ECU in Greenville but succumbed to his injuries.
