Juvenile petitions are pending following a stop in Gaston Friday in which juveniles ranging in age from 14 to 17 were in a vehicle with firearms.

Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said around 9:15 p.m. Sergeant M. Deloatch conducted the investigative stop on a suspicious vehicle due to numerous recent shootings in the Gaston area and throughout the county.

Deloatch observed seven juvenile occupants within the vehicle.

Numerous firearms were found inside the vehicle that included three rifles, three handguns, and extended fully loaded magazines.

All juveniles were detained and released to their parents.
