A vehicle traveling down the highway with no headlights caught the attention of Halifax County Sheriff's Office Community Action Team Sergeant G. Martin Tuesday night around 10 and resulted in the arrests of two people.
Major Anzell Harris said the arrests of Joshua Burnell, 41, of Halifax, and the driver, Shaquille Lawrence, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, occurred while the CAT was conducting a saturated patrol in the Highway 158 area.
Martin noticed Burnell, a back seat passenger, reaching underneath a seat with a white paper in his hand dumping what Harris said appeared to be cocaine on the floor of the vehicle.
