Two people were charged and another has a warrant pending following a shooting into an occupied residence in the 300 block of Monroe Street Thursday afternoon.
The person with the pending warrant is currently being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, said Lieutenant Morgan Worrell of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
That person — Kemahja Graham, 22, of Enfield — was with Angelica Tejas Dominquez, 23, and Dashawn Phillips, 24, both of Roanoke Rapids, when they exchanged gunfire with an individual inside the residence around 3:30 p.m., Worrell said.
The arrest warrant for Phillips indicates six people were inside the residence at the time shots were fired.
As officers responded to the scene they received notification that a person with an apparent gunshot wound was arriving at the hospital.
Officers located the suspect vehicle as well as Dominquez, Phillips and Graham. Dominquez and Phillips were detained, arrested, and subsequently charged with discharging a weapon into occupied property.
The pair had a preliminary district court appearance and, according to eCourts records, are to appear in district court on August 28.
Graham has a pending charge of the same count as Dominquez and Phillips.
Worrell said the motive is not immediately clear and investigation continues to try to determine the circumstances and whether further charges will be filed.
A vehicle that wasn’t involved in the exchange of gunfire was struck.
