The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:
Monday evening stop
On Monday shortly after 6 p.m. the Community Action Team was in the area of Bolling Road and Western Drive when Sergeant G.Q. Martin observed a motor vehicle violation.
Martin conducted a vehicle stop and identified Cory Edmonds, 42, as the driver.

A homemade smoking device with white residue was found on the floorboard.
Edmonds was removed from the vehicle and a search was conducted.
While searching Edmonds, Martin felt an item not consistent with the male’s anatomy, later locating multiple individual items containing crack cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia in his pocket.
Edmonds was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, and expired registration.
As of this report no bond modification was made during a first appearance this morning, according to eCourts records after he was jailed without the opportunity for bond Monday evening.

Friday evening stop
On Friday shortly before 8 p.m. CAT conducted a saturation patrol in the Zoo Road area when a vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation.
Martin initiated a stop and the vehicle pulled into an address on Highway 158.

The driver, identified as Randall Turner, 57, of Roanoke Rapids, immediately exited the vehicle and separated himself from it and spoke with CAT members.
Consent search of the vehicle was given and deputies located a cigarette box containing cocaine. Deputies also seized homemade smoking devices and other drug paraphernalia.
Turner was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possess drug paraphernalia and failure to signal.
Turner has posted bond and is scheduled for another district court appearance on Wednesday.
