Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a Monday night shooting in which a 14-year-old boy was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.

Captain Harold Phillips said this morning that there are currently no physical descriptions of a possible suspect or suspects. He said police have not established a motive.

In a statement he said officers received a call of shots fired shortly before 10:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Madison Street, but no one was at the scene.

Officers, however, located the victim in the 200 block of Monroe Street.

The victim was taken to ECU North and later to a trauma center for further treatment.
