Friday night was a night of Carolinians, North Carolina and South Carolina stars to hit the stage at the Weldon Mills Theatre.
North Carolina native Presley Barker return to the Roanoke Rapids venue for BarnBurner Promotions event to open for South Carolina Native Country singing star Josh Turner.
Barker is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from Wilkes County NC on a mission to bring real country music back. Barker opened for Country Singer Mark Chestnutt in July at the Weldon Mills Theatre and was able to fill-in Friday at the last minute. Barker entertained the nearly sold-out show with several written or cowritten songs and several award-winning tunes.
Next the South Carolina native headliner Country singer/songwriter Josh Turner on his "This Country Music Thing Tour" hit the stage. The crowd was warned first thing of a Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm warning with winds that will swipe you off your feet and spin you around and don't fight the urge to stand up and have a good time.
