The new 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine is now available at the Halifax County Health Department.
The announcement comes after The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its Adult and Child Immunization Schedules to apply individual-based decision-making to the COVID-19 vaccination.
The immunization schedules adopted recent recommendations by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices which were approved by Acting Director of the CDC and Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Jim O’Neill.
Who is eligible?
Adults ages 65 years and older
Adults 19 to 64 years old with at least one underlying health condition, such as: asthma, chronic heart or lung, chronic liver or kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, smoking (current or former), pregnancy, depression, physical inactivity, and more.

Children ages 6 months to 18 years with at least one underlying health condition. A prescription/doctor’s order with a diagnosis is needed for anyone 18 years and younger.
