A Roanoke Rapids man remains in the Halifax County Detention Center after he was arrested and charged early this morning following a chase that began on Highway 903 near Piney Grove Church Road.
Antoine J. Hubbard, 39, allegedly fled from the stop while Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Deputy J. Morales was conducting a records check around 1 a.m. Major Anzell Harris said Morales stopped the vehicle for a violation.
Hubbard led the deputy on a chase that exceeded 100 mph. Harris said Hubbard drove the vehicle through fields at times and caused minor property damage before he abandoned the vehicle in the Hilltop Drive area.

Sergeant R. Elder and her dog, Ivey, followed a track that led to a residence on Dot Circle where Hubbard was arrested.
Hubbard was charged with felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, expired registration card/tag, driving while license revoked, injury to personal property, and two counts of failure to stop for a stop sign/light.
He has a February 26 district court date.
