Northampton County was recently awarded a $500,000 State Economic and Infrastructure Development grant by the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission.
These funds will be used for a lift station replacement in the town of Garysburg.
This project was chosen by the SCRC due to strong alignment with the priorities identified in SCRC’s authorizing statute, Five-Year Strategic Plan, and State Economic Development Plan.
“Northampton County is working diligently to attract more businesses and families to the area,” the county’s economic development department said. “Making significant infrastructure upgrades plays a vital role in these efforts, especially when infrastructure issues can pose a deterrent for families and businesses seeking to relocate. The economic development team looks forward to using these grant funds to help catapult Northampton County forward.” Additional information on the project will be provided upon acceptance and execution of the grant.
SCRC Grant Manager Sylvia Frierson said, “The SEID grant is awarded to support projects that demonstrate significant potential to contribute to economic development and infrastructure improvements of the Southeast Crescent region.”
