A Roanoke Rapids woman was arrested and charged with first-degree murder Sunday night in the February shooting death of a 25-year-old man, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Latina Moore, 26, remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond and has a May 27 first district court appearance.

She is charged in the shooting death of Cormani Burnett, who Major Anzell Harris said was found with gunshot wounds in his work truck, which was parked at a convenience store off Highway 48 and Rhea Smith Road.

Detective Sergeant I. Miller obtained warrants for Moore’s arrest on Friday. Miller and other detectives located her Sunday night around 8. The first-degree murder warrant filed against Moore does not provide further details about the case.

Harris said more arrests are expected, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Miller at 252-645-9611.
